The Bath Soup Company
The Bath Soup Company started life following an enterprise competition at Bath University which gave students the chance to run a business for one day. The challenge was to set up and run a profitable business in just 24 hours.
But inspired by The Apprentice, Dominic Povey, Jason Malone and Ed Smyth decided one day wasn't enough for them and have gone onto make their student project into a real life business.
From humble beginnings, the company has gained momentum and is now running as a social enterprise, giving local homeless people the opportunity to learn new skills at The Bath Soup School. The weekly soup school produces fresh soup using local ingredients which is sold on campus at Bath University but they hope to expand the scheme to universities across the UK.
The trio who decided to formally launch the company on the 1st January 2010, were among students who showcased their business achievements as part of Universities Week at a special event to celebrate student enterprise at Bath’s Holburne Museum along with students from Bristol, Exeter, Southampton and Surrey.
